Dr. Basavaraj is Senior Consultant and Head of Department – Orthopaedics & Joint Replacement at BGS Gleneagles Hospital, Bengaluru, part of the Fortis Healthcare Network.

With more than 30 years of orthopaedic experience, Dr. Basavaraj specialises in hip and knee joint replacement surgery, including primary, complex primary, revision, and technology-assisted arthroplasty. His practice is focused on delivering personalised, evidence-based care tailored to the individual needs of each patient.
Dr. Basavaraj underwent advanced orthopaedic training in the United Kingdom, where he worked for nearly nine years in leading NHS hospitals. During this period, he completed fellowship training in lower limb arthroplasty and gained extensive experience in primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery.
He remains actively involved in academic teaching, research, and professional education, regularly participating in national and international orthopaedic meetings and continuing medical education programmes.
Dr. Basavaraj’s clinical interests include robotic-assisted and computer-assisted joint replacement, revision arthroplasty, complex reconstruction around the hip and knee, and enhanced recovery protocols designed to help patients regain mobility and return to their daily activities as safely and efficiently as possible.
Dr. Basavaraj believes in evidence-based orthopaedic practice, transparent patient communication, and recommending surgery only when it is likely to provide meaningful benefit. His aim is to combine surgical precision, modern technology, and patient-centred care to achieve durable pain relief, improved function, and enhanced quality of life.
